I began my barber journey at 16 while still in high school and serving in the Canadian Military. The need for short, clean haircuts sparked my interest in barbering, and I started by cutting my friends' hair in my parents' basement. After high school, I attended cosmetology school while still in the army, which allowed me to graduate at 18 and dive into my passion full-time.
My first barbershop job was at Forum Barber Parlour in Toronto, run by Patrice Alexander. Even though I had never worked in a barbershop before, Patrice gave me a chance as an apprentice, and I learned invaluable customer skills and appreciated the appointment-based system he implemented.
While working there, I met Jmac, also known as Jason Macaraig, who was a celebrity barber cutting the hair of none other than Drake. Jmac became my mentor, and working with him opened up incredible opportunities, including my first celebrity encounter with J. Cole. Cutting J. Cole's hair backstage at a concert was a dream come true and a moment I'll never forget.
